However, since the folder structure from OS X 10.7 Lion to OS X 10.12 Sierra is different from 10.13 High Sierra or later, the commands are slightly different, but if you use the script on this page, that will also be supported. The spelling of the command changes depending on the OS version, making it difficult to understand, but what you are doing is simple. Restore the disk image loaded from the macOS installer into your working image file.Temporarily create a working image file.On this page, instead of executing multiple commands in “Terminal” to create an ISO file, you can easily create an ISO file by copying and executing a “shell script”.Īlso, I actually checked the operation of the created all ISO files with VMware and VirtualBox.īy the way, what the “shell script” does is roughly as follows. Good luck.I think that the ISO file for macOS installation is often used with virtual environment software such as VMware and VirtualBox. You can try posting on Oracle's VirtualBox forum.

I have found no helpful advice geared towards Mac OS X users to troubleshoot or resolve this issue. Works great, until I log out and try to run VirtualBox on my primary admin account, which results in the same "failed to initialize COM" error.

The closest workaround I could find that enabled VirtualBox to open was to create a brand new admin level user, log in to that user account, then install VirtualBox and run under that account.

It is trying to locate a non-existent directory. There is no such VirtualBox folder in my user Library folder. Please check the permissions of this directory and of its parent directory. My message:įailed to initialize COM because the VirtualBox global configuration directory /Users/username/Library/VirtualBox is not accessible. I have wasted over six hours alone trying to address the issue, and it's still unresolved. I am having a similar "Failed to initialize COM" problem on Mac OS X 10.7.5, VirtualBox 4.2.2.
#VIRTUALBOX FOR MAC OS X 10.7 VERIFICATION#
but I don't see any kind of verification against OS X Server.īeen looking for a day now and haven't got a clue anymore where to look.Īre there people out there having the same kind of problems? so the version I'm using 4.1.18 should work. There have been issues with the support of Virtualbox but the testlevel was set to 4.1.15.

SInce a number of things have fundamentally changed (X11 removed) I wonder what I need to do to get my Virtualbox working again and what is the **** difference that the installation of the server component causes.
#VIRTUALBOX FOR MAC OS X 10.7 UPGRADE#
On my MacBook Pro I did the upgrade to ML too, but without the upgrade of the Lion Server to OS X Server. Most likely, the VirtualBox server is not running or failed to start. Got a problem since migrated to Mac OS X Mountain Lion with in addition OS X Server application installed to replace Mac OS X Lion server on a Mac Mini.Īll was working fine until the day after the installation I got the following message when I start VirtualBox:įailed to initialize COM or to find the VirtualBox COM server.
